Nose Work Classes!
K9 Nose Work® Classes are exhilarating for both dog and handler and are based on authentic scent detection training. Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt. Scent work can help develop confidence even in the most timid dog. The mental exercise of searching and problem-solving is great for calming and focusing the energetic or highly aroused dog. Another huge benefit of K9 Nose Work® is the positive working relationship that develops between you and your dog when you both are out “hunting” together as a team. For those handlers that love to compete, K9 Nose Work® Classes will prepare you for the official Nose Work Trials sanctioned by the NACSW (National Association of Canine Scent Work) as well as the many organizations forming their own versions of this wonderful sport, such as PSD, AKC, USCSS and UKC.
Nose work is a wonderful activity for newly adopted dogs as it helps them become more confident in new environments. It’s also a great activity for dogs that need a lot of mental and physical stimulation, but have a hard time in environments or classes with other dogs. They will have an opportunity to build confidence in new environments, and working around obstacles without the stress of interactions with other dogs.
Nose work classes focus on teaching you how to encourage and develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of food, toys and exercise. It’s a great way for your dog to have fun, build confidence and burn lots of mental and physical energy. Find out just how good your dog’s nose really is!
